In a heartwarming turn of events, Anoosha Kargarfard, a 31-year-old Miami resident, has shared touching footage of her newly adopted shelter dog, Beau, whose favorite activity is cuddling.

Anoosha adopted Beau, a border collie/terrier mix, from the Humane Society of Greater Miami last week and has been documenting his journey on her TikTok account, @anooshakar. The video, showing Beau’s affectionate nature, has garnered 2.5 million views and 492,800 likes.

Border collies, as described by the American Kennel Club, are known for their energy, intelligence, and affectionate demeanor. However, Beau stands out for his particularly calm and cuddly personality. In the viral video, the black and white pup is seen rolling over lovingly on a couch, clearly enjoying his new home.

“Beau is an old soul. He’s not a traditional puppy, and no matter what anyone says, he has this charm of a retired old man,” Anoosha told Newsweek. “He’s timid, shy, and was initially terrified of his own shadow, but he’s slowly building confidence.”

Beau, formerly named Lawrence at the shelter, was one of three puppies playing together when Anoosha first saw him. She had recently relocated from Canada to Florida, leaving her two previous dogs behind. A chance encounter with a stray dog outside her home led her to the shelter, where she found Beau.

“I walked in, and after the third window to my left, I see these three puppies playing together, one of which happened to be Beau,” Anoosha recounted. “He looked at me, propped up his ears, and something told me ‘that’s the one.'”

Despite his initial timidity, Beau’s true personality has since shone through in his new home. “If he had shown his true colors at the shelter, he would have been gone immediately,” Anoosha said. Beau now enjoys the comfort of his forever home, often snuggling up on the couch and watching TV.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami’s Soffer and Fine Adoption Center cares for over 400 homeless animals daily without the threat of euthanasia. According to the ASPCA, 6.3 million animals enter U.S. shelters each year, with 920,000 being euthanized. These statistics highlight the importance of adoption in saving lives and giving animals a second chance.

Anoosha hopes to inspire others to adopt rather than shop for pets. “I’d like to show the world that dogs from a shelter or any rescue program, whether they’re rehomed or rehabilitated, have immense gratitude,” she said. “This business of buying animals should be at a halt, for good. I have three rescues, and I can’t imagine any other way to have a fur baby.”

Her TikTok followers have been moved by Beau’s story. One user, Casey Lorraine, commented: “Omg stop it, that is too precious.” Another, Kez, added: “From a collie owner, cuddles are your life now. Ultimate velcro dogs.”

Beau was the last of his litter to be adopted, but now he enjoys the warmth and love of his new home. Anoosha and her followers are eager to see how Beau continues to thrive, proving that rescue dogs can make the most loving and loyal companions.

Kargarfard’s journey with Beau underscores the transformative power of adoption, offering a heartfelt reminder that every animal deserves a chance to be loved and cherished.
