Dog Meat Trade Survivor Learning to be a Normal Dog in Heartwarming Video

Golden Retriever running on grass

Early in 2023, The Big 3 Rescue saved 20 dogs who were going to be slaughtered as part of the dog meat trade in Asia. The Big 3 Rescue organization is a charity group that focuses on saving dogs from the dog meat trade in Asia. It is estimated that 30 million dogs are killed annually for consumption in Asia. These dogs may be grabbed from the streets or raised in awful, inhumane conditions. The Big 3 Rescue rescues dogs from Asia and brings them to the U.S. or U.K to be rehabilitated by fosters. The dogs can relearn how to be normal and then can be adopted into loving forever homes.

Dogs rescued from the dog meat trade can face particular trouble acclimating to a new home. Horrifically, they have often spent most, if not all of their lives being brutalized by humans and kept in inhumane conditions. However, as shown in one TikTok video posted by The Big 3 organization, with time and love these dogs can begin to thrive. Bonnie is a Golden Retriever who was rescued from the dog meat trade in 2023. She was brought to the U.K to live with a foster family.

When the pup first arrived, she was too scared to emerge from the crate she had been sent in. She was terrified of humans but loved other dogs. However, with love and encouragement from her foster parents, Bonnie began to blossom. At the end of the video, she can be seen playing with a toy in her foster family’s backyard. Now, Bonnie has been adopted into her forever home where she has new loving parents, another Golden Retriever Sibling, and a rabbit to be her family! Bonnie shows that with love from a family, even scared dogs can have a second chance at living the life full of love they deserve!
