After his human brought a foster kitten into their home, Lucis the cat quickly developed a strong attachment to the tiny addition. After his rough start in life, Lucis saw something of himself in the tiny kitten.
My male cat adopted our foster kitten so now we have to keep her I guess

After Lucis appeared on Kati’s parent’s porch, the tomcat soon became a daily visitor. However, as winter approached, Kati became concerned about the stray cat. He had a cut that needed veterinary attention. So, she captured him, took him to the vet, and adopted him. Soon, Lucis settled into his new home.
Although Kati and Lucis had fostered kittens before, Lucis had never formed as strong of an attachment as to their most recent foster. The tiny black kitten was found in a plastic bag along with her two siblings. Kati took all three in. Although the other two kittens soon found homes, the black kitten struggled to find a family of her own.
Fortunately, Lucis stepped up. The kitten loved him, and luckily Lucis felt the same way! The tomcat would even groom the young kitten as if it were his own. Now, Kati is considering keeping the kitten. Lucis is definitely on board, as are the users on the subreddit r/cats where the story was posted.
Research suggests that the reason Lucis has developed such a bond with the kitten is due to his hormones. A 2022 study showed that lower cortisol and testosterone levels may make cats more likely to be tolerant of other felines. According to Kati, Lucis has always been friendly towards other felines, never displaying any aggression.
