A bull in Castejon, Spain leaped over a barricade after being taunted by spectators. Part of a traditional bull running, the bull was from the famous Jose Arriazu de Ablitas ranch. In a video of the event, the harassed bull can be seen coming to a sudden stop in the middle of the street. Only a wooden barricade separates the creature from the crowd. Surrounded by jeering spectators, the bull looks scared and confused. It was clear the bull wished to escape the taunting crowd. Bull running is a traditional event that typically takes place as part of a religious festival. The most famous running of the bulls takes place in Pamplona, Spain. However, the event has drawn fire for its cruel treatment of the bulls involved. The bulls who are used in these events are driven into a state of fear and panic through the use of loud noises, taunting, and physical pain. They are then released into the streets where they are chased by large crowds of people. Many who come to view this event may not realize that these harassed bulls are then forced to participate in bullfights. In the bullfighting ring, they are subjected to a long, tortuous death. Spain is not the only country that holds bullfights. Portugal, France, Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, Peru, and Ecuador also take part in this cruel tradition. Fortunately, more and more people are beginning to realize the cruelty that is an inherent part of running with bulls and bullfighting.
