Hilarious Cat With Whiskers ‘Growing Out of His Head’ Goes Viral on TikTok

A video of a cat that has a whisker “growing out of his head” has gone viral on TikTok with over 3.2 million views: ‘I’m crying. It’s so cute!’

The video was shared by @mauithecattt on TikTok and shows a fluffy cat sitting on a couch with a whisker seeming to grow right out of the top of his head.

The text on the video read, “Guys, why does my cat have a whisker growing out of his head??!!???” with the caption, “I’m crying its so cute.”

The cat’s human, Sarah Shewcraft, told Newsweek, “He had a whisker fall out of his cheek. I just picked it up and plopped it onto his head. It was just a video made for fun!

“He does have two little more faint whiskers growing out of his head, but not nearly as noticeable as the one I placed in the middle,” Shewcraft said.

But can cats even grow whiskers on their head? Yes, cats can grow whiskers on their head, in fact, cats typically have whiskers above their eyes, on their cheeks, and on their chin. These whiskers are also known as “mystacial” whiskers and are the longest and most noticeable whiskers on a cat’s face. In addition to the whiskers on their head, cats can also grow whiskers on the back of their front legs, which are called “carpal” whiskers. These are not as long or as noticeable as the whiskers on the head, but they also serve a sensory function for the cat.

Cat whiskers play a crucial role in a cat’s sensory system. They are highly sensitive, and contain nerve endings that can detect even the slightest movement and changes in air currents. This allows cats to determine the size, shape, and texture of objects around them, even in the dark.

TikTok users thought that the video was hilarious with one commenting, “He’s trying to connect to the WiFi with his antenna.”

“Unicorns come in many different shapes and sizes,” another said.

“That’s his thinking hair,” another user added.

It’s important to note that cat whiskers should never be trimmed or cut, as they are an important sensory tool for the cat. In fact, cats rely on their whiskers so much that they may become disoriented or stressed if their whiskers are damaged or removed.
