This manta ray was caught on film off the coast of Central America, appearing to ask these divers for help. The manta ray was trapped in a fishing net, and it was causing her a lot of pain. But this manta was smart and brave enough to approach these divers when she saw them. This isn’t the first time a ray has been caught doing something like this either.
The divers were more than happy to lend a hand to this creature in need. Thomaz Monteiro told ninemsn, “All of the divers felt a deep connection with this amazing animal.”
The crew was able to cut the net off the belly of the manta ray, but it did leave some small cuts on her underside.
What an amazing encounter these divers had. The ray is lucky she found them in time, but of course if it weren’t for the reckless humans who left a stray net in the water, she never would have needed their help in the first place.
