Deadly Ingredients

  • 2 slices jalapeño pepper
  • 2 slices lime, divided
  • Splash of simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) silver tequila
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) Cointreau
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) lime juice
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) orange juice
  • Course salt, for rimming the glass
  • Club soda
  • 1 slice jalapeño pepper, for garnishing
  • 1 lime wheel, for garnishing


  1. In a pint glass or the smaller half of a cocktail shaker, muddle the 2 jalapeño slices and the remaining lime slice with the simple syrup.
  2. In the larger half of the cocktail shaker, add the tequila, Cointreau, lemon juice, lime juice, and orange juice. Combine the two parts and shake well.
  3. Pour (don’t strain) the contents of the cocktail shaker into the prepared glass and top with club soda.
  4. Garnish with the jalapeño slice and lime wheel.
