Rice Paper Ham Deli Slices [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

Many of the commercially available vegan meats rely on soy as a base. But what if you have an allergy or are trying to cut the bean out of your diet? This homemade vegan ham is both gluten-free and soy-free, so everybody can ham it up and nobody gets hurt.

Ingredients You Need for Rice Paper Ham Deli Slices [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

    • 1 tablespoon tamari
    • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
    • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
    • 2 teaspoons water
    • 4 sheets rice paper

How to Prepare Rice Paper Ham Deli Slices [Vegan, Gluten-Free]

    1. Combine the tamari, maple syrup, garlic powder, paprika, and water in a shallow bowl or cake pan.
    2. Stack 2 sheets of rice paper and run them quickly under warm water. They should become pliable and stick together. Dip them into the tamari marinade and set aside. Repeat with the remaining 2 sheets of rice paper.
    3. Heat a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Add one stack of marinated rice paper to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds. Flip it over and cook for 30 seconds. Remove the rice paper from the skillet and transfer it to a plate. Repeat with the other stack of rice paper. Cut each stack in half and the fold each half in half so you end up with 4 rounded triangles.

    1. Have to agree with Moonlit. This is void of any nutrition at all. For those who are vegan and also care about their health, this is just silly. Eat food with food in it! ::laughing::
