In a decision that proves the rapidly increasing popularity of vegan food on a global scale, an entirely plant-based pizza was crowned “best pizza” at the National Pizza Awards in the UK-an annual event dedicated to recognizing the top-notch pizzas in the country.
The winning pizza of 2018 was a delectable creation of the eatery Purezza, located in Brighton and London, and is called the “Parmigiana Party pie, inspired by the classic Italian dish, with fried aubergines, vegan sausage and smoked vegan mozzarella.” Talk about a mouthwatering combination of flavors and ingredients!

Purezza was established in 2016, and co-founder Stefania Evangelisti was quoted in a Metro article as stating that “We have seen a tremendous surge in customers, particularly in the last year with people who are becoming more aware about what they eat and are actively looking at reducing their meat consumption.” In addition to their now award-winning Parmigiana Party pie, Purezza offers other tasty pizza combinations such as the Portobello Road (with mushrooms, ricotta, and sun-dried tomatoes), as well as delectable desserts such as tiramisu and gelato.

This pizza is so delicious, anyone you share a slice with will be shocked to find out that it is actually free from gluten, eggs, soy, corn, and dairy. Instead of tomato sauce, Elaine Gordon‘s Parmesan Kale Pesto Pizza is topped with a garlicky kale pesto, as well as vegan Parmesan, grape tomatoes, and broccoli. This pie is vibrant, delightfully textured, and healthy to boot!

If you’ve never tried barbecue sauce on pizza, it’s time to start. Cauliflower roasted in spicy barbecue sauce adds a “meaty” texture as well as an awesome flavor that makes Rene Barker‘s Roasted Cauliflower BBQ Pizza filling, healthy, and totally tasty. Top with creamy, dairy-free ranch sauce and fresh cilantro for the perfect finishing touch.

Who ever knew that beets could make the perfect substitute for pepperoni? When you think about it, they’re the perfect shape and size! Beets are marinated in a smoky, spicy sauce and then fried until crispy in this Beet ‘Pepperoni’ Pizza from Alicja Rokicka. They go perfectly with the crust and tomato sauce in the recipe, but feel free to use your favorites — after all, pizza is a personal affair.
