While we all love a catchy pop song, it’s the artists who fuse together melodies with meaningful lyrics that really stick with us. One such person is British reggae artist Macka B, who recently released a new album entitled, “Health is Wealth.” Macka B is best known as the artist who took the internet by storm with his short, fun videos like Medical Mondays and Wha Me Eat Wednesday where he spins lyrics dedicated to the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables (Cucumba, where Macka most likely being the best known of the series).

The new album, which was released under Greensleeves Records on September 29th, features 16 tracks that touch upon various issues ranging from the importance of healthy diet and exercise to taking care of one’s mental health. The album features tracks such as a remix of the 2008 single, “Wha Me Eat” and a longer version of the viral hit, “Cucumba.” According to Reggaeville, producing the album was a global effort, with help from studios in Jamaica, Japan, the U.S., and the U.K. If you want to Support Macka B, visit his official Facebook page to learn where you can download his new album.
If you couldn’t guess by his weekly videos dedicated to the benefits of whole, plant-based foods, Macka B is a vegan and more specifically, follows a Rastafari Ital diet, which is based on foods that are as whole and unprocessed as possible. This excludes meat, fish, and sometimes dairy (some who follow an Ital diet are vegetarian while others are vegan) with minimal use of oil, sugar, and salt. If you want to learn to cook Ital food at home or if you’re like Macka B (and us) and love veggies, read How to Make Your Own Jamaican (Ital) Food at Home. We also highly recommend downloading our Food Monster App, which is available for both Android and iPhone, and can also be found on Instagram and Facebook. The app has more than 8,000 plant-based, allergy-friendly recipes, and subscribers gain access to ten new recipes per day. Check it out!
