The talented chefs behind the Oakland restaurant Lion Dance Cafe, which earned James Beard nominations and Michelin recognition, have exciting news for their fans. Although the beloved restaurant has now closed, owners Shane Stanbridge and C-Y Chia are channeling their culinary creativity into a much-anticipated cookbook. This project is in response to the numerous requests from their loyal customers.
Lion Dance Cafe, celebrated for its unique fusion of Italian and Singaporean flavors in a fully plant-based menu, became a standout in the Bay Area’s vegan dining scene. The upcoming cookbook will be a testament to their innovative approach to vegan cuisine.
Stanbridge and Chia recently reached out to their followers on Instagram, asking which dishes should be featured in the cookbook. The response was overwhelming, with fans requesting everything from the restaurant’s extensive variety of shaobing sandwiches and classic laksa to their famous nuggets and desserts. There were even requests for dishes not served since their early pop-up days.
While waiting for the cookbook, which they hope to start taking pre-orders for over the summer, fans can still enjoy Lion Dance’s culinary creations at their pop-up dinners. For more information and updates, keep an eye on their Instagram and visit the restaurant’s website.
