Variety reports that environmentalist and activist Jaden Smith is opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant version of his I Love You food program. The food trucks have been open since 2019 and provide free vegan offerings on Los Angeles’ Skid Row, the center of the city’s homeless population.

“If you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” Smith said of the project. The Hollywood Reporter shared that the food truck I Love You Restaurant gave out food to 8,000 people that live in the area. The food included vegetable bowls handed out in brown paper bags.

Smith shared that his trucks and restaurant are “a movement that is all about giving people what they deserve, healthy, vegan food for free.”

As of right now, Smith has not announced a location, menu, or time for opening this restaurant; however, this is definitely an exciting project that will help so many people!

Jaden Smith has created many other philanthropic initiatives. In 2012, Jaden Smith founded JUST Water, a sustainably sourced and packaged water company. He later founded 501CThree, a nonprofit that helps provide clean water to people in Flint, Michigan, among other cities in the US.
