Most days of the year, we’re busy trying to strike the right balance between exuding a sense of professionalism while also staying true to ourselves and our individual interests — as much as we’d like to just give in to our every whim, we know that we should practice everything in moderation, right?
Typically, yes — except for during October. It’s the spookiest month of the year, and we’re perfectly content to dive headlong into the Halloween spirit. Candy for breakfast? Absolutely. Pumpkins piled high in every nook and cranny of our apartments? You bet. And you know we’re not eating anything if it isn’t at least slightly reminiscent of our favorite holiday.
For those of you who are fervently clinging to the last days of the month like we are, and want to truly immerse yourself in the Halloween spirit, allow us to present to you one of our favorite spooky — and truly delicious — Halloween treats: Raw Halloween Ghostie Brownies.
If you’ve got it, haunt it.
Not only are these brownies by Heidi Turunen charming in appearance, but for such a sweet treat, they’re actually pretty nutrient-dense: made from a blend of walnuts and gooey, sweet dates. Since they’re topped with a banana, they’re not going to leave you feeling regretful after eating one (or two… or five…).
You only need three ingredients for the brownie portion of this recipe: walnuts, pitted dates, and cacao powder. The frosting only calls for five: raw cacao butter, coconut butter, maple syrup, a banana, and a garnish of either vegan white chocolate chips or blueberries (ahem… booberries). Your choice. Let us know what you think!
