Pizza Rolls

If you’re trying to eat more plant-based foods, one of the first things we recommend is to start by recreating dairy-free and meat-free variations of your favorite dishes. Learning how to make plant-based versions of your most beloved meals is a great way to show your friends and family that eating plant-based does not meat missing out on the food you love — just take a look at all these amazing plant-based cheeses if you need convincing!

While whipping up some of your own vegan meat is sure to satisfy your strongest cravings (just as long as you remember that plant-based eating is all about the seasoning), when you’re in the mood for something a little less hearty, don’t despair: recreating your favorite snack foods is a cinch. Perhaps one of the most coveted of all snacks we remembered from our childhood was Totino’s Pizza Rolls — delightful pockets of tomato sauce and mozzarella surrounded by crispy dough. We’re here to tell you that yes, you can even make vegan pizza rolls. Here’s how:

Say “hello” to your newest obsession: these 4-Ingredient Pizza Rolls by Casey Muir Taylor.Pizza Rolls

Casey makes these pizza rolls by stuffing pre-made pizza dough with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and tomato sauce. Not only are they easy to make, they’re ready in just 10 minutes! Just be sure to let them cool to minimize on pizza (roll) burn. Tip: most pizzerias will sell you pizza dough if you ask! Or, you can try making this Wholemeal Pizza Dough.

How can you take these vegan pizza rolls to the next level? We suggest this Cashew Mozzarella That Melts by Azucena Noriega, a biomedical engineer who also loves experiment in the kitchen.

Azucena made this melty vegan mozzarella by blending soaked, raw cashews with a psyllium powder mix, lemon juice, and water. Once smooth and creamy, transfer to a container and let cool overnight in the fridge. Then, all you need to do is slice off a piece and stuff it into the center of your homemade pizza rolls. Yum!
