It’s easy to be kind and generous when you have a lot to spare. But kind inclinations can quickly go out the window when the going gets tough. However, Lisa Snyder is a good Samaritan through and through!
Lisa found a white pointer mix tethered to a tree in Point Vermin Park in San Pedro, CA. She called a shelter to take the dog in. However, it was too late for anyone at the shelter or the police station to come and get the dog personally. The only alternatives were to rescue the dog take care of him herself or untie the pup and let him go.
At the time, Snyder was living with three cats in a wrecked van, so taking the dog in was out of the question, but she also couldn’t bear the thought of letting this dog loose on the hard streets of California.
In a display of selfless compassion, she walked the dog three miles to the nearest shelter. Now three miles may not sound like much, but it was raining in the dead of night and Snyder has difficulty walking. A walk that might have otherwise taken a few hours ended up taking all night, but they eventually made it!
Thanks to this woman’s amazing efforts, Joey now lives in a loving forever home where he will never have to worry about being abandoned again.
All Snyder needed to be happy was to know that the dog was safe and sound, but the community of San Pedro recognized her efforts and gave her $3,500! It just goes to show that life is a boomerang and you get what you give!
