Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) has launched a new initiative called the GreenerLight Program, designed to embed sustainable practices and eco-conscious forethought across the entire filmmaking process. The program starts from the script development phase and continues through production and distribution. UFEG will look at depictions of on-screen behaviors from an environmentally friendly angle, and every film greenlit at the studio will include a sustainability plan.

The new program expands on UFEG’s already existing Sustainable Production Program, which focuses on energy efficiency, fuel-use reduction, and donations of food and set materials. UFEG’s GreenerLight Program will be unique among studios, as every film will include a sustainability plan.

UFEG’s move is part of a larger trend in the entertainment industry towards more sustainable practices. Amazon Studios recently invested in battery-powered generator company Moxion Power, and Netflix has partnered with GM to showcase EV cars in its shows and films.

UFEG’s move is particularly significant as it embeds sustainability across the entire filmmaking process, from script development to distribution. By looking at depictions of on-screen behaviors from an environmentally friendly angle, UFEG is making a conscious effort to use its platform to promote more sustainable practices.

As consumers, we can also do our part to encourage more sustainable practices in the entertainment industry. We can Support movies and TV shows that prioritize sustainability and promote environmentally friendly behaviors. We can also use our social media platforms to highlight the importance of sustainability in the entertainment industry and demand more action from studios.

UFEG’s GreenerLight Program is a significant step towards a more sustainable entertainment industry. By embedding sustainable practices across the entire filmmaking process, UFEG is setting a new standard for studios to follow. As consumers, we can also do our part to encourage more sustainable practices in the entertainment industry. Together, we can make a positive impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future for all.

  1. How about making movies that don’t demean, mock, deride animals, that don’t use anti-animal slurs in the scripts, and that honor and celebrate animals? ,
