An undercover investigator from The Humane Society of the United States was employed at Inotiv, an animal testing laboratory in Indiana, from August 2021 to March 2022. While there, he developed a unique relationship with two very playful primates, Ziggy and Chloe.

As the investigator got to know their personalities better, they would get excited every time he would enter the room. “He was just extremely intelligent. He was a very expressive macaque. He was also very emotional”, said the investigator, talking about Ziggy.
He described Chloe as very goofy and lighthearted. The day that Chloe was sent to necropsy, she held the hands of the investigator a little longer than usual, almost as if she was aware of her fate. “If anyone could see them, and how social they can be, you would never want to do it either,” he added.
Every day, animals are cruelly forced into experiments in the name of science. Common lab animals include rats, rabbits, beagles, and monkeys – all of whom suffer immensely at the hands of researchers.
You can help animals like Ziggy and Chloe by taking a moment to contact the FDA and urge them to stop relying on outdated animal testing and instead commit to and prioritize a shift towards more accurate non-animal test methods.
