The White House is preparing a sweeping rollback that targets the core of US climate regulation. According to the Associated Press via PBS NewsHour, the EPA plans to rescind the 2009 endangerment finding. That finding says greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare.

It is the legal Support for most Clean Air Act climate rules, from tailpipe limits to power plant standards. So if it disappears, the rulebook could shrink fast. Meanwhile, Americans are living through hotter heat waves, worse flooding, and longer fire seasons.

The administration frames this as cost relief and energy dominance. Yet the costs of inaction do not stay on paper. More climate Pollution means more soot and ozone on bad air days. That threatens health in neighborhoods already carrying the heaviest burden.

It also strains the environment that supports food, water, and safe housing. When heat and drought intensify, shelters and rescues feel it too. Pets and wildlife suffer in disasters right alongside people.

Supporters of the rollback argue the science is outdated. But the National Academies reviewed the evidence and found the 2009 finding accurate. The panel said the evidence for harm is stronger now, not weaker, in the report, Effects of Human-Caused Greenhouse Gas Emissions on U.S. Climate, Health, and Welfare.

This fight will move to the courts. It will also move to the ballot box and local budgets. Protecting the Earth can look like backing clean power at the city level. It can also mean choosing plant based meals more often, since a vegan future cuts Pollution at the source.

Speak up, vote, and Support policies that keep science, people, and all animals safer.
