Trash bags with decapitated chickens and goats were found on Long Island last weekend. Suffolk police suspect they were the remains of animal sacrifice rituals. A specialist who works with the police on these sorts of cases has said that animals are often sacrificed as a part of black-magic rituals.
Animal control contacted the police after finding the trash bags just 100 feet south of the Northern State Parkway in Melville, Suffolk County.
The black bags had rotting carcasses of five decapitated chickens and two decapitated goats. Fruits and vegetables were also found nearby, and police suspect they were used in the ritual.
The Suffolk SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward for any information that helps to find and prosecute the individuals responsible.
“The Suffolk SPCA has investigated many cases of animal sacrifice over the years,” the agency said in a statement.
This is an extremely gruesome animal cruelty case, and the people who did this to these poor animals should face the consequences. Anyone with any information or tips is encouraged to call the SPCA at (631) 382-7722.
Animal abuse is more prevalent than many may think. According to PetPedia, every 60 seconds, an animal suffers from abuse, with more than 65 percent being dogs. More than 10 million animals die from abuse every year in the US alone, not including the livestock bred for consumption, who also suffer immense abuse. Animal abuse happens everywhere and is a serious issue. We need more laws to protect animals and hold abusers accountable.
