A barn in the town of Oak Grove, western Wisconsin, became the site of a destructive blaze early Wednesday morning. The Rice Lake Fire Department swiftly responded to the emergency on the 2700 block of 23rd Street just before 4 a.m., but the intensity of the fire had already taken a tragic toll.
The barn, fully engulfed in flames and with its roof collapsed, posed a challenging scenario for firefighters. Despite their efforts, a heartbreaking loss occurred with the death of a horse, a cow, approximately 150 goats, and several chickens. Miraculously, two horses and three pigs managed to escape unharmed. Thankfully, no firefighters or individuals were injured during the incident.
The Rice Lake Fire Department estimates the damage to be around $225,000, reflecting the severity of the destruction wrought by the fire. Authorities are now actively investigating the cause of the blaze, seeking to unravel the circumstances that led to such a tragic event.
