Using their rescue equipment, crews were able to successfully move one of the cargo trailers just enough to gain better access to the frightened bear. After humanely sedating the bear, they were able to carefully lie hum on his side and carry him out on a tarp. He was then relocated to a safer location.

California is home to a wide array of wildlife, and bears play an important role in the area’s ecosystem, says California Fish and Wildlife. “Over the past few years, black bears have faced unprecedented habitat loss due to Climate change and wildfires, and continued sport hunting in California makes survival an even tougher climb,” said Senator Wiener. We must do everything we can to protect these majestic and beloved bears.
