Kennel Fire Kills 11 Dogs in U.K

In a heartbreaking catastrophe, eleven dogs are dead after a fire broke out at a private kennel in Staffordshire in the United Kingdom. Police are investigating the fire, but do not believe that it originated under suspicious circumstances. Staffordshire police and firefighters were contacted in the early morning hours of August 26th after the blaze was noticed and responded quickly. Firefighters worked diligently and quickly to extinguish the fire.

The blaze occurred at the BlueRose dog kennels. BlueRose kennels are located near the town of Dudley and offer private fields for hire by appointment. They have private fields, and group fields, and offer special walks and events. Additionally, they offer birthday party packages.

The eleven dogs who died were not locked in the kennels. According to a Facebook post, the dogs had access to large outdoor runs. The statement said it appeared that the dogs succumbed to the fire’s fumes before they were able to escape. Staff at the kennels were able to save four dogs who were already outside of the kennels. However, the staff sustained injuries due to these rescues and while trying to save the dogs inside. Staff are “devastated” by the heartbreaking events.

In the kennel’s Facebook post, BlueRose thanks their community for an outpouring of love and Support following the devastating tragedy. “No words, just love to you both. Your beloved dogs will be running at the rainbow bridge” read one comment on the post. BlueRose also ended their statement with the message “R.I.P Socks, Skip, Chip, Chilli, Pepper, Hunter, Jade, Boomer, Tequila, Jack, and Lyla. You were our lives.”

The kennel will remain open in the aftermath of the fire since the dog park was not affected. However, the staff asked for patience following the awful events.
