Rescue Dogs Rock has an update for you today on a beautiful little Dachshund named Rocket, who was rescued after being stabbed and burned multiple times.

After his initial surgery to remove some of the dead and necrotic skin from his back, Rocket needed to be heavily sedated. He was kept on strong painkillers to help him recover, and he was monitored around the clock.

Understandably, poor Rocket was in a terrible state, looking very sorry for himself indeed. And since that surgery, Rocket has been twice more sedated for wound debridement and cleaning. This is a very unwell little boy!

Rescue Dogs Rock discovered that his horrific burns were the result of a bad flea or tick treatment that went terribly wrong. Rocket’s idiotic former owners decided to deal with this problem by cutting away pieces of his dead, peeling skin with a knife. Can you even imagine what this poor dog has been through, first burnt and then skinned by the people who he is supposed to be able to love and trust?

Rocket will need extensive treatment for around eight weeks in full. His case is pending investigation in North Carolina, and we truly hope that the people responsible for this abuse get every possible punishment there is. Look at this tiny, beautiful, trusting dog, and tell us how on Earth his owners could not have made this decision to help him?

Rocket needs a lot of regular bandage changes with a special medical mesh that helps repair and heal the skin. He will be okay, but it’s going to take a lot of time, money, and patience before this beautiful little boy is on the mend.

There are people in the world that just do not deserve to have pets. We can never understand how someone would think that taking an animal into their homes doesn’t come with any sense of responsibility at all. We are livid that there are still insufficient laws in place to protect poor dogs like Rocket. What would we do without heroes like Rescue Dogs Rock to help them when they are so desperately in need?
