When her neighbor’s ducklings were hatching, they called over @amaducks to check it out. When she walked around the house, she discovered the mama duck’s nest, and inside was Bea in the process of hatching. Bea hatched a day late, after all of her brothers and sisters, and had been left behind in the nest. Unfortunately, her mother didn’t seem too interested in taking care of her, and Bea would likely not have survived if left outside on her own. It is not uncommon for a duckling to be abandoned by his or her mother when they are sick, injured, or even hatch a little later than the others, as in Bea’s case.

@amaducks could not leave Bea all alone, so she decided right then and there to take Bea home and raise her like her own baby. She soon discovered that Bea had splayed legs, where her legs went too far out to the sides and making it more challenging for her to walk. However, this didn’t stop Bea from exploring the world for the first time. Using a band-aid, @amaducks had the idea of lightly fastening Bea’s legs closer together, and it worked like a charm. Bea can now walk perfectly! The two of them are practically inseparable now. Despite her rough start in life, Bea could not be happier in her new home! Keep up with Bea’s story on Instagram!
