A homeowner was about to tear down a shed in the backyard, but there was a major problem — a red mother fox built a den underneath where she lived with her seven five-week-old kits. Thankfully, the homeowner knew exactly what to do and called the Humane Society for assistance.
Rescuers pulled up the shed’s floorboards to reveal the cute and cuddly kits, then picked them up by their scruffs to keep them calm while transferring them to a reunion box for the mother to find later. The mother fox wasn’t with them at the time, but Humane Society workers knew that her instincts would help her find the babies in no time.
They were right! Watch the video to see the mother fox find her babies and transport them to a new, safer den.
Remember, despite their puppy-like appearance, fox kits aren’t pets and should only be handled by experts. If you need help with foxes or any wild animals in your yard, or if you find a baby animal you suspect is in danger, contact your local wildlife rescue center.
