You would think for a Wimbledon-title wielding tennis star, nothing could stand in the way of getting to practice on time. For Andy Murray, however, there is one thing more important than tennis practice–saving dogs, of course!
While the tennis star was on his way to Wimbledon practice he came a cross a lone pup, wandering alongside a busy road. Murray is a dog lover himself, and immediately jumped into action seeing this lost labradoodle straying too close to moving cars.
Murray told the BBC, “I parked the car and got out and tried to stop the traffic because the dog was running towards the oncoming traffic, I ran into the road, stopped the traffic and I managed to get the dog onto the back seat of my car.”
Simple as that, the tennis star was able to get the labradoodle to safety and went a step further by driving the dog to a local dog park in the hopes that he would be able to locate the dog’s guardian. Luckily, the dog was wearing a tag with the contact information of his human and Murray was able to quickly get in touch.
As fate would have it, this particular dog turned out to a be a friend of Murray’s pooches, belonging to the same dog walking group. The happy guardian was thrilled to see her labradoodle returned safe and sound. While I am sure Murray would have stopped to help the dog regardless, this little act of kindness surely gained him some karma points towards his upcoming Wimbledon matches.
