Sadly, shy cats can have a difficult time finding homes. However, they still have lots of love to give. This is true for one shelter cat in Australia. Red was surrendered to the Australian Animal Protection Society in September of 2023 when her family moved abroad. However, in February of 2024, the five-year-old cat still had not found a new family. Heartbreakingly, she had not even received a single visitor. Feeling that this may be due to Red’s initial shyness, the team at AAPS decided to post a TikTok video about the shelter cat. They hoped that the video would inspire her new family to step forward.

The video shows that while the shelter cat is “wary of new people”, she quickly warms up to patient humans. In the video, she can be seen receiving pets from shelter workers. The team hoped that the video would help Red garner some interest from potential adopters.
Luckily, the video seemed to have some success. According to the AAPS, Red has a meet and greet lined up. Hopefully, the shelter cat will soon have a new family of her own.
