Just when you thought you’d seen it all from the Hope for Paws crew, they hit us again with another amazing rescue! This time around, however, it wasn’t a dog, a cat, or even a bunny – the animal in need was a rooster! Eldad and Loreta went out in search of a stray dog when Eldad spotted the bird rummaging through nearby trash. The rooster was an unusual find, but they weren’t about to let any homeless animal suffer on the streets without at least trying. They ran to a nearby store to grab some bird food … well, sort of … a banana nut muffin would have to do!
They quickly returned to the location where Loreta lured him close using the food, and he was clearly hungry. They believe he escaped from a nearby slaughterhouse, as his beak had been clipped. This sweet boy had literally risked it all to survive and his bravery was about to pay off. Loreta moved fast capturing him in a net. He was then transferred into a crate and named Cornelius. After a quick call to their friend at Bunny World Foundation for a referral, it wasn’t long before this rooster, likely fated for slaughter, found himself in a loving forever home!
Not only is Cornelius safe, happy, and loved, he also has two best friends, Lester and a cat named Gus! If you would like to make a donation to Hope for Paws (and claws, hooves, and feathers) and help save other homeless animals, click here.
