All animal rescues are special in that they help give forgotten or abused animals a second chance at life. But some rescues are special in another way, because of how long and trying they are. One such challenging mission was recently carried out by Hope For Paws near the Los Angeles International Airport.
The rescuers received a text about a homeless dog living near the airport and set off on their journey to find her. However, when they found the dog, it turned out that the poor animal was far too scared to be captured in the usual way, by luring her with food.
The rescue proved to be extremely difficult and long – but on the seventh day they attempted to capture her, a kind man informed them of the pup’s usual sleeping spot. Having blocked every possible escape route, the rescuers finally spotted the dog hidden under a mass of bushes, twigs, and spider webs, and managed the put a leash on her. The poor dog was entirely horrified and determined not to leave her hiding spot, but, at long last, the rescuers managed to pull her out.It took just a little bit of affection and kindness for her to start realizing there was nothing to be so scared of.
At the rescue, she was bathed and treated for her fleas and ticks. She got a new name – Bellanca – and was completely changed thanks to all of the love she received. She is now waiting for a forever home where she would never have to be afraid anymore.
