It’s always inspiring to hear incredible rescue stories where animals go from extremely sick and injured to thriving and strong thanks to the kindness of people. It seems like, with the help of a little compassion and determination, there is nothing that an animal can’t overcome. While this is often the case, sometimes no matter how much love and care that is given to an animal, they don’t recover.
Emilio the baby cow featured in this video was rescued by Santuario Igualdad Interespecie after being ripped from his mother at birth. He was born to be used as a “prize” for a celebration taking place on Chile’s Independence Day, and never knew anything but neglect and abuse in his first days of life. Sadly, but not surprisingly, he was extremely ill when Igualdad Interespecie rescued him, but despite his feeble state, they were determined to do all they could.
The volunteers at Santuario Igualdad Interespecie showered Emilio with love and care and treated him as if he were their own child. Unfortunately, in the end, medicine and snuggles couldn’t stand up against the infection the baby calf had contracted and he passed away. Volunteers were unable to save him, but at least Emilio got to experience genuine affection before his short life was over.
Rest peace, little Emilio.
What an experience Love cows.
