Rescue Puppy Finds Comfort in Golden Retriever Companion

@kbevacqua Darwin seems to just be a therapy dog at this point. All of our fosters want his approval but this little girl seems to be taking to him even more than others. She seeks him out when its nap time so that she can curl up in his fur. It took a few days for him to warm up to the idea, but he is finally coming around. #foster #fosterpuppy #adoptme #adoptdontshop #dog #rescuedog ♬ A Summer Place - Hollywood Strings Orchestra

When Katie Bevacqua, a 32-year-old from North Carolina, saw the malnourished 4-pound foster puppy named Roo, she knew the journey ahead would be challenging. Having fostered several dogs in the past, Bevacqua was no stranger to the effort required to nurse an animal back to health. Despite the difficulties, she felt compelled to help when she heard about an abandoned litter of puppies at a Raleigh shelter.

Roo, only 3 months old and severely underweight, was in dire condition when Bevacqua took her in. The tiny pup had been abandoned without food or water for several days, leading to significant malnutrition. Bevacqua immediately began a regimen of small, consistent meals, supplements, and plenty of rest to help Roo recover.

Fortunately, Roo found solace in Bevacqua’s 5-year-old golden retriever, Darwin. Initially unsure, Darwin eventually warmed up to Roo, allowing her to cuddle and find comfort in his presence. This budding friendship has been crucial in Roo’s healing process, as she now looks to Darwin for cues and security.

Bevacqua has been sharing Roo’s recovery journey on TikTok (@kbevacqua), capturing the heartwarming bond between the two dogs. The videos have gained widespread attention, with one clip garnering over 13.6 million views and 2.6 million likes in just a day.
