Usually when we cover a story involving a kitten, it’s because the little cat is doing something hilarious, like fighting tissue boxes or giving high-fives–but this is not the case with this petite, nameless kitten. Meet, Purrrmanentely Sad Cat, the little fur ball who is going head to head with Grumpy Cat for the title of most crestfallen kitty on the web.
The photo of this kitten surfaced on Reddit and took the internet cat world by storm. Seemingly, this cat was born with a case of resting bored face, the phenomenon that had plagued many-a-human leading to a life filled with continually answering the question “what’s wrong?!”
The kitten’s guardian, Ashley Herring explains that the kitten is very well cared for and even, “enjoys attacking toes from under the bed, chewing on fingertips, following the family dog around the house and picking on her siblings.”
But alas, her little face would make you think she spends most of her days with this dog weeping and listening to Adele.
Or perhaps she caught this rendition of “The Notebook,” and just has quite bounced back yet.
Either way, Purrrmanenetly Sad Cat looks more depressed then a lonely kitty on Valentine’s Day.
My guess is the sullen nature of this cat spawns from the fact that she doesn’t have a name yet! On reddit, Herring asked commenters to offer suggestions for what she should name the kitten, her options so far are, “Nugget, Meowancholia, Bojangles and Happy.”
My personal favorite is Meowancholia–with those cheek bones the kitten is a dead ringer for Kristen Dunst…
Whatever the choice, we hope this little kitty’s guardian choses a name soon! A good name is the first step to make Purrrmanently Sad Cat an internet star, like her predecessor Grumpy Cat. You’ve got some big paw prints to fill little kitty, but if the pressure ever gets you down, just flip to this video, take a break and frolic around–but of course don’t let it make you look too happy!
