Hurricane Florence hit a lot of places hard, displacing people and animals alike. Ziggy’s Refuge Farm Sanctuary had a battle on their hands rescuing all of the animals around them. Here is the story of Champ, a beautiful pig who survived the horrific ordeal!
Before the storm hit, Champ’s life was not an easy one. He was kept in a concentrated animal feeding operation where he no doubt experienced abuse and misery from the day he was born. Given his age and size, he was likely just weeks away from being taken to slaughter when the hurricane hit, so we could say that the hurricane hit at the perfect time for him!

Ziggy’s takes in all kinds of farm animals when they are in desperate need of help, taking care of their medical treatment and giving them a safe, happy home. They work tirelessly to give these animals sanctuary and need our help to keep going! If you are in a position to Donate or would like to know more, please visit their Facebook page.
