The NOAA Fisheries just made a deadly mistake—rolling back critical protections for the North Atlantic right whale, one of the world’s most endangered species. With fewer than 70 reproductive females left, every life matters. Since 2020, at least 16 right whales have been killed or injured by boats, yet NOAA refuses to enforce proven speed limits that could save them.
Last year alone, four right whales—including two mothers and their calves—died from vessel strikes. Research shows that slowing boats to 10 knots or less drastically reduces these fatal collisions. Despite overwhelming scientific evidence, NOAA scrapped plans to expand protections to key whale habitats.
We can’t let government inaction drive this species to extinction. Sign the petition now to demand NOAA reinstates and enforces speed limits before it’s too late!
