Petition: Demand Action Against Cruel Encampment Clearings In Atlanta

On the eve of honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Atlanta authorities tragically killed Cornelius Taylor during a harsh clearing of a homeless encampment near Ebenezer Baptist Church. This heartless act occurred as the city prepared for MLK Day celebrations, undermining the very principles Dr. King championed.

Cornelius, a compassionate soul dreaming of a better future, was crushed by a bulldozer while inside his tent. Witnesses report that workers failed to ensure the area was empty before beginning the destruction. This incident highlights Atlanta’s 60% rise in unsheltered homelessness since the pandemic and the city’s misguided approach to “sanitize” areas instead of providing affordable housing and Support.
