Sweet Orphaned Rhino Cuddles With Pillow to Help Recover From Losing Her Mom (VIDEO)

Rhinos might appear to be tough and intimidating on the outside, but many people don’t know just how emotional these creatures are, especially young calves. For the first few months of their lives, rhinos are incredibly dependent on their mothers, just like human children. In their absence, they resort to imprinting on other animals – or objects. In one instance, we saw an orphaned baby rhino who was so distraught over losing their mother that he imprinted on a car! While this is heartbreaking in itself, what’s even more troubling is the overall plight facing these animals.

It is estimated that three rhinos are killed every day for their horns and with global populations dropping at a rapid rate, many species have even been declared extinct from the wild. Thankfully, there are amazing organizations working to rescue and rehabilitate rhinos in need, such as Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage. 

Nandi, the little one in this video, was found by Thula Thula after being orphaned. She might not have a mother to snuggle with, but her caretakers gave her a fuzzy warm pillow to help comfort the mourning little one.
