Every once in a while, someone comes around, enters a complicated discussion about a complicated situation, and halts the talk with a simple and innovative solution. This typically leaves everyone else scratching their heads while saying “And why didn’t I think of that!?”
Boyan Slat, the 19-year-old man at the helm of The Ocean Cleanup, has done just that. With his innovative yet quite simple idea for cleaning up ocean waste, Slat’s ideas will leave you dumbfounded yet totally optimistic for our ability to clean up the world’s oceans.
“I have invented a method to clean up almost half of the great Pacific’s garbage patch in just 10 years, using the currents to my advantage,” he says in the video.
