New York Cabbie Stops Traffic to Save Kitten on Highway

It’s always heartwarming to hear stories of everyday people who spot an animal in need, yet decide to stop their lives for a time and help out. In a world where it is so easy to tune out what you don’t want to hear and see, there still exists taxi drivers who’ll help a kitten stuck on a busy highway (and in NYC, no less!)

Bill Cannon, co-owner of Beech Street Taxi in Long Beach, was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic while on his way home on the Van Wyck Expressway. He noticed a tiny orange kitten on the traffic barrier.

“I was going by slow enough that I could hear it crying,” Cannon told WCBS 880. “I stopped and jumped out and grabbed it and put it in the car. It was ready to jump into traffic when I jumped out of the car.”

He fell in love with this kitten, so he took her home, and now, Autumn is a part of the family! Cannon’s children love her.

We’re so glad Autumn is now safe and sound. Look at how precious she is!
