Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are six petitions you should sign this week, including Help Protect Whales from Ship Collisions, Urge Companies to Go Carbon Neutral, and Tell the EU to Ban Live Sheep Exports.
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
Danny, Amanda, Ann, El Rey, Fonzie, Kareem, Kim, and Martin. These are the names of some of the chimps who died at a biomedical research facility in New Mexico while the National Institutes of Health refused to move them to the Chimp Haven sanctuary, despite being required to by law.
In December 2022, a court determined that the NIH violated the CHIMP Act by denying these chimps sanctuary retirement simply because they suffer from chronic health conditions common in chimps formerly used in research.
But NIH still refuses to move the remaining 26 chimps to the sanctuary. These chimps were subjected to painful biomedical experiments for years. We owe them the chance to live out the rest of their lives in a sanctuary where they can climb trees, live in bonded social groups, and control their own lives.
Please sign this petition to demand the NIH move these chimps to Chimp Haven!
An innocent endangered sei whale tragically horrifically lost their life – they were killed by a cruise ship. Authorities discovered the body draped across the bow of the ship when it entered New York City’s harbor. This devastating incident underscores the critical threats these magnificent creatures face from large ships disrupting their habitats.
Please sign this petition to urge authorities to enforce stricter regulations on cruise ship routes and speeds in areas frequented by endangered whales!
Several men in Michigan were caught poaching and torturing animals – all illegal actions that they are currently facing charges for.
The men apparently targeted a variety of animals, including six deer and one porcupine. In one instance, the men simply sat cozy and comfy inside a truck while leveling an innocent adult buck using a gun fired through the window.
Then, they posed for photos with the dead animals as though it were funny.
Please sign this petition to demand that officials remove these men’s access to guns, crossbows, and revoke any hunting licenses!
A new study just revealed that 80% of Climate change-causing emissions come from just 57 companies around the world. Chevron, ExxonMobile, BP, Aramco, Gazprom, and the National Iranian Oil Company are several of the largest contributors to continually skyrocketing greenhouse gasses.
As a result, each of these companies has tremendous power to help us fight the deadly and intensifying effects of Climate change – and with great power comes great responsibility!
Please sign this petition to demand that these companies commit to going carbon-neutral to fight Climate change and save our world!
In rare positive news about the live animal trade, Australia finally announced its plan to end its live sheep export trade by 2028, due to the serious animal welfare issues involved. Now, the European Union (EU) must follow suit. As the world’s largest livestock exporter, the EU has a responsibility to lead by example and put an end to the cruel and perilous journeys that animals endure.
Please sign this petition to demand the European Union Commission ban live sheep exports!
Primates are not suited for life as pets. Thankfully, the reintroduction of the Captive Primate Safety Act aims to end the cruel and dangerous pet primate trade in the United States. Nonhuman primates, who are highly intelligent and social, endure profound suffering and cause significant safety risks when kept as pets. This act, championed by bipartisan lawmakers, would prohibit the private possession of these animals, safeguarding both their welfare and public health.
Please sign this petition to encourage your representatives to Support and expedite the passage of the Captive Primate Safety Act.
