If you visit any city across the globe, you will take note of its unique charm, interesting architecture and monuments and remark at how it is unlike any other place you’ve ever seen. But if you zoom out on the impressions of all the cities you have seen, do you notice a few commonalities? Perhaps an excess of plastic refuse and a number of homeless animals?
Think back and I’m sure these less attractive details of your favorite cities will come to light. The fact is, many cities have these issues. After all, when you cram a large number of people into a small area there is bound to be an excess of trash and a herd of stray animals. It’s quite a sad reality when you think about it…but all hope is not lost thanks to the ingenious invention by the Turkish company, Pugedon.

In Istanbul, Turkey there are an estimated 150,00o stray cats and dogs that roam the streets.Taking on both the issue of stray animals and the need for more recycling receptacles, with the “Smart Recycling Box,” Pugedon is helping to solve the problems of stray dogs and humans alike.

When a passerby places their recyclable plastic bottle into the top of the box, dog food is dispensed into a bowl at the other side.

Any remaining water left in bottles is funneled into the accompanying water dish. The price of the collected plastic bottles covers the cost of dog food and it is a win-win for all!

So…when is the mass shipment of these miracle machines set to arrive in the U.S.?
