The anti-smog guns, resembling large cannons, have become a symbol of Delhi’s determined effort to combat air pollution. These cannons utilize a unique approach, spraying fine water droplets into the air. The droplets effectively bind with dust and particles, causing them to fall to the ground. While the technology aims to mitigate the immediate impact of Pollution, citizens are still experiencing the adverse effects of the ongoing environmental crisis.

Despite the widespread use of masks to protect against the smog, residents are reporting red and burning eyes, along with difficulties in breathing. The severity of the situation was underscored on November 10 when the air quality index in Delhi exceeded a staggering 470, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay indoors. This alarming scenario has become an annual occurrence as winter approaches, exacerbating the already critical air quality conditions.

The worsening air quality in northern India during winter is attributed to the phenomenon of denser cold air trapping pollutants, preventing their dispersion. A deadly combination of emissions from vehicles, industrial activities, construction sites, and the traditional practice of farmers burning fields at the end of the growing season contributes to the escalating Pollution levels.
