A dog, thought to be a Doodle, named Pumpkin was rescued by a local Good Samaritan after they found the severely emaciated canine wandering the streets. Fearing that he was dying, they rushed him to the local police. Pumpkin was then taken to the South Suburban Humane Society.

Pumpkin arrived at the humane society dehydrated and so malnourished that he could not walk or stand on his own. Humane Society staff members quickly got to work taking care of the dog, who they believe is a Doodle around five years of age. After having a haircut and receiving fluids, Pumpkin began the slow process of recovery.

Although it will be several weeks until Pumpkin recovers enough to be adopted, he is currently living with a foster family. With this family, Pumpkin can finally begin to learn how to be a normal dog. However, the Humane Society warns that he will need lots of gentle love and Support throughout the process. Pumpkin has faced incredible abuse, neglect, and trauma throughout his short life. Humane Society staff members hope that the Doodle will be able to find a family with lots of dog experience and love to help him fully blossom.
