Khanyisa is an albino elephant calf that was rescued by HERD Elephant Orphanage South Africa at the beginning of January 2020. Her head was wrapped in a snare that was leaving cuts in her skin and she was dehydrated from being alone in the wild for at least a few days.
After such a traumatizing experience, Khanyisa was in need of a lot of care and Support. Fortunately, HERD was there to help her recover physically and emotionally. After healing her wounds and helping her gain weight, it was time for Khanyisa to continue healing emotionally. To do this, she needed the companionship of other elephants.
This video shows her remarkable meeting with the Jabulani herd. It’s amazing how immediately welcoming the herd is to this little elephant. They invite her in with trumpeting, stomping, and other exciting behaviors. This heartwarming video will leave you in awe at these gentle giants ad their compassion for each other.
