Using words, plenty of research, the occasional dose of sarcasm, and a whole lot of love for the planet, I aim to change the world for the better by sharing information and sparking discussions about some of Earth's most pressing issues. A graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in Journalism and Psychology, I combine my knowledge of human behavior with my love for writing to help people realize the incredible power we all have to leave this Earth a little better than when we arrived. When I'm not writing, I'm exploring nature, finding (and eating) the best plant-based food New York has to offer, and going to as many concerts as I possibly can. Dogs have a sense of childlike wonder and the ability to get excited about some of life’s simplest pleasures that is only comparable to that of a little human. We see a ball flying through the air, they see the Olympic games. We come home after a long day, dogs can barely keep it together when we walk through the door. We don’t blame them. Dogs who are lucky enough to have a home, usually have a pretty cushy life. They get to nap whenever they want, there are always toys to play with, and of course, they have the companionship of their human guardian. Without any responsibility, dogs are able to take joy in the little things.
Pippa, for instance, is a golden retriever who loves collecting the mail. That’s right. Despite all the scenes we’ve seen on television over the years featuring a grouchy mailman and a dog who won’t stop barking, it seems that this type of friendship is, in fact, possible! The relationship between Martin Studer, an Austrailian mailman, and Pippa is pretty simple. Martin walks up to the house, Pippa runs outside to get the daily mail, and both go along their merry way. But, what happens when Pippa’s human family happens to not have any mail?
Pippa is not the only dog who Studer has become friends with on his rounds, he often takes photos of his neighborhood dog pals! It warms our hearts to see this mailman give these sweet pups so much attention. Humans understandably get caught up in the busyness of life, and can get too distracted with worries about jobs, children, and basic surviving to slow down and appreciate little things. We should all love at least one thing as much as Pippa loves mail.

My grandparents had a Boston Terrier named Kandy who loved the mailman–and he loved her back. If he was having a bad day, he\’d knock on the door and ask if Kandy could accompany him on his rounds, which she usually did. He returned her to their house when he was finished. As she aged, she didn\’t go out with him very much, and he was as heartbroken as the family when she passed away.
My late Golden Retriever didn\’t bring in the mail since it\’s delivered to a post office box. But when the UPS man showed up, Teddy would bring out his dinner dish, put it in the truck, then wait for the driver to drop a biscuit in it. Once his treat arrived, Teddy would pick up the dish, carefully remove it from the truck, then place it on the ground and eat the cookie with a wave of his tail.
