Each year, thousands of rabbits, mice, rats, and guinea pigs are used and killed for the purposes of cosmetics testing in the U.S. However, this tragedy can readily be avoided as humane testing methods are now available. What’s more, nations around the world have already stepped up to ban cosmetics animal testing on their soil, proving that it is not necessary and that businesses can thrive without subjecting other beings to cruelty.

Now, it’s the U.S.’s turn to take this same step and, thanks to a recently introduced bill called the Humane Cosmetics Act (H.R. 4148), the country is poised to move into a new era without cruel, unnecessary, and outdated cosmetics animal testing.

In an effort to propel this bill forward, celebrities have joined the call to end cosmetics animal testing including “Big Bang Theory” stars like Mayim Bialik and Kunal Nayyar. Even U.K. actor and comedian Ricky Gervais is urging the U.S. to get a move on it!

Successful companies are also jumping on board and joining the fight to end cosmetics animal testing like Dr. Bronner’s Magical Soaps and, most recently, luxury hair care brand Paul Mitchell®.

Since its founding in 1980, Paul Mitchell® has been dedicated to being a cruelty-free business and, according to Co-founder and Chief Executive, John Paul DeJoria, the company was the “first professional hair care brand to take a strong stance against animal testing.”

With such a strong cruelty-free background, it’s wonderful to see Paul Mitchell® taking a leading role in the campaign to stop cosmetics animal testing in the U.S. once and for all.

“We are honored to join Cruelty Free International in supporting the Humane Cosmetic Act to end cosmetic testing on animals in the United States. It’s easy to see that our commitment to caring for all living souls as well as the remainder of the planet is a driving force in everything we do. Join us, in helping make our world a more beautiful and better place,” said DeJoria.

Green Monsters, you heard DeJoria – let’s join Paul Mitchell® in calling on Congress to pass the Humane Cosmetics Act!

Take action today by signing this petition from Cruelty Free International which asks that your representatives become co-sponsors of the Humane Cosmetics Act. Be sure to also follow up directly with your representatives through an email and telephone call to their office. Find their contact information here and a sample email/letter here.

Let’s stand strong and lend our voices to all the rabbits, mice, rats, and guinea pigs still suffering in cosmetics testing across the U.S.
