What This Little Boy Asked for in Place of Birthday Presents Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity

When you were nine-years-old, what did you want most for your birthday? An arts and crafts set? A new football? Maybe a Gameboy?!

Well, for this little boy’s birthday, he didn’t want anything for himself. Instead, he asked friends and family to Donate money to a non-profit organization, Guardians of Rescue, whose mission is to “to facilitate and foster programs and activities that further the unique benefits of interaction between people and animals.” The result? A whopping $1,325!

When you read Matthew’s letter, you can instantly feel his care and compassion for animals:

In a Facebook post, Guardians of Rescue wrote, “We are so thankful to you Matthew and your selfless gift. We hope you had an amazing birthday.”

Maybe we should all follow little Matthew’s lead in choosing to give rather than receive. Imagine if every single one of us asked for donations for good causes, rather than the latest toy or game? In doing so, we could help save the lives of thousands of beings all over the world.
