Family Found a Dirty Kitten Abandoned in a Ditch and Did Just the Right Thing To Help Her

Author Bio

I am a writer and illustrator living in Poland.

In a ditch behind a production building, a kind person found a little fluffy ball, entirely covered in dirt and clearly in need of someone to take care of her. This foundling was Baby Smudge – a tiny kitten who was, apparently, roaming the streets on her own, without a mother, despite being obviously too young to manage alone. Fortunately, the moment she was spotted, she was also no longer all alone in the world – now she is completely transformed and living her life in a loving home.

Smudge’s story was shared on Imgur by her new caregiver, Zoe, whose co-worker had found the kitty. She remembers the kitten to be “exhausted, all fur and bones” and with “thorns and burrs in her fur and paws.”

After her first bottle of replacement kitten milk, however, Smudge immediately looked more relaxed and content with life.

After all, it was the first time in a while that she was perfectly full and safe in a warm home.

To get rid of all the dirt, Smudge had to have a bath. It was, as the picture shows best, exhausting – but worth it!

The newborn feeding schedule required much teamwork.

In fact, the entirety of newborn kitten care was a serious and around-the-clock task – but Smudge’s new family adapted to it perfectly.

And it looks like the kitten found just the place she should be.

After a few weeks, there was no trace whatsoever of the scrawny and dirty little kitten that came into the house – and, already bigger, plumper, and happier, Smudge now felt perfectly at home.

She also started getting along splendidly with her brothers – and is, all in all, just too sweet for words.

Little Smudge was lucky to find a family that turned out to be just the perfect one. Without hesitation, they took the little kitten in need in and gave her a home. Although she spent some or all of her kittenhood in the streets, she is now fully loved and cared for – and napping away on the softest pillows and on friendly laps.

Unfortunately, this is a lucky break that most homeless animals don’t get. If you’re looking to help a kitten like Smudge, consider adopting from your local shelter!
