The U.S. is home to a staggering 70 million homeless animals. Luckily there are countless agencies, shelters, organizations, and animal advocates working to find forever homes and the proper medical care and nutrition for these animals. While the work being done for animals in the U.S. is amazing, we are hardly the only country that is striving to care for their stray animal population.
This video comes from a dog sanctuary in Serbia that was started by a man named Sasa Pejčić. Over 450 formerly homeless dogs live at the shelter where they spend their days running and playing together – in addition to tackling their rescuer to give him tons of love and kisses. Sasa keeps the dogs in an entirely cage-free environment and makes sure that they all get ample food and exercise. The video says that Sasa is the happiest man in Serbia and we have to say that with a pack of amazing pups and his huge heart – we can certainly understand why.
Right now, the sanctuary is operating with the help of the U.S.-based Harmony Fund. According to this organization, it costs $15 a month to care for these dogs, but only 88 out of the 450 have been sponsored. To help Sasa carry out his mission to help all of the homeless dogs he possibly can, consider making a donation through the Harmony Fund, here.
