Kenny Chesney Donates Proceeds of New Song to Stray Rescue

Recently, country singer Kenny Chesney’s beloved rescue pit bull named Ruby passed away. Chesney shared on Instagram that they lost “Da Ruba Girl” who was “honest and authentic”.

“Ruby lived her life never holding anything against anybody. She had an ancient, calming soul,” he wrote. “Today I know Ruby is sitting somewhere with the sun on her face happy and grateful to have slipped her skin and body that was full of cancer.”

“You were a very good girl. We loved you and thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally. You were one heaven of a dog. “She’ll be known all over the world… as Da Ruba Girl.”

Chesney shared in another post that years ago he had written a song called “Da Ruba Girl,” about Ruby and their life with her. The song would often play on Chesney’s SiriusXM station, and fans had requested for years that the song be made available. He has now decided to make it available and wanted to honor Ruby in as many ways as he could.

“So it only made sense – after all the years of people asking – to release Ruby’s song, and to let ‘Da Ruba Girl’ pay it forward by helping the incredible people at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, who not only worked closely with us after the hurricanes in the Virgin Islands, but who also continue to help find homes for big dogs, old dogs and especially pits, which they are one of the largest shelters for.”

Beginning December 9, “Da Ruba Girl” will be available on all streaming platforms, and all of the proceeds from the song will be donated to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Additional donations can be made through their website www.strayrescue.org.
