If you have experienced what it is like to care for a dog, or any pet for that matter, you know what it is to love an animal unconditionally. While we all love our pets and spoil them like children, this pet parent takes the cake for unrelenting love of “Lucky.”

Lucky has been deemed the “ugliest” dog in her neighborhood, but her marred appearance has done little to deter the love of her guardian. Her skin may be covered with burns and her teeth might stick out in an unsightly manner, but her scars just show that this dog has beaten all odds to be where she is today–largely thanks to the man who saved her.

Lucky was discovered on the side of the road in terrible condition. While not much is known about her life before rescue, it is believed she suffered from chemical burns that caused her eyelids and the skin around her face to peel off. When her rescuer brought her for emergency care, the vet warned, “you can’t save every puppy.” This was not an acceptable answer for her now-guardian who believes every dog should have a chance at a happy life.

A happy life is what Lucky has been given thanks to this kind human, who loves Lucky to pieces even though she doesn’t look like a regular dog. A true lesson in what it means to love a pet unconditionally, her guardian pays no mind to the aesthetic qualities of his little friend, but loves her just as much (if not more) than his other “regular” dogs.
